I’m looking to purchase a cutter mainly for heat transfers but it needs to be budget friendly. Rolland has a cutter the STIKA SV-15 desktop cutter. Can someone please give me some feedback on this cutter and provide me with things I need to know before buying a cutter (things to look for).
i.e. does it need to run at a certain speed.
b. does it need to have a certain amount of cutting force.
c. it a 15” cutter wide enough.
d. software.
e. what kind of knowledge to I need to have in order to operate this.
f. can I do multiple colors for heat transfers.
h. what is a standard size vinyl roll and will it fit in this cutter.
i. does it need to have a laser eye.

These are some question I have but please let me know if I’m forgetting something.

a. you can control the speed using Cut Studio (software provided with cutter)
b. pretty sure the cutting force is pre-determined. you control cut depth using the blade holder by screwing the cap in to expose more of the blade or unscrewing the cap to expose less of the blade.
c. wide enough for what?
d. the cutter comes with Cut Studio, but you can install plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator or CorelDrawl.
e. it is fairly easy to use. it only took a week or two messing around to figure out what I was doing.
f. you can do multiple colors. the way I found out how to do that is to delete the lines you do not want to cut and leave the ones you want to cut for that certain color. then undo the deleted lines and delete other lines that you don't want for your next color.
g. (you forgot g)
h.a standard 15" roll will fit through this machine. I think the smallest size you can cut is 12" rolls.
i. the laser depends on if you are contour cutting printed images. I have never had the need for a eye, but I also do not work with heat transfers.
