I tried to cut an image today that has alot of detail. When it was done I looked the vinyl over and there was a large section that didn't cut. It cut all the dtail on the inside that needs to be weeded out, but it didn't cut the outside lines. I've had this problem cutting letters before, but never an image and I could always click here and there and make it cut. This time, no luck. No matter what I do I just can't get one section of the image to cut!! Any suggestions???
yea but, it sounds like he or she already had those lines in the design.
nottypical.......do you see the lines in outline mode in illustrator? how about in your cutting program before sending to cutter? in cut studio plugin for illustrator there are different settings for output to the cutter. one of them is 'cut only selected lines' others are 'cut only selected layer' etc. i think you might have that set wrong. but any lines you want cut should be visible in your cutting software before sending data to cutter.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong then. I cut right from Illy. I only use cut studio if I have to. I create my image and check all my paths and then I just do file-> print-> Roland GX-24 then I go to properties and get from machine. I ok everything and then I cut. If I have seperate colors I set them up in layers and cut do that process for each layer. The image in a tree. It's cutting inside the branches and half of the outline of it, but then it just stops. Tpath is there and there aren't any breaks in it or anything. When I try to send it to Cut Studio and set up the path to cut it looks terrible and I have to move all the anchor points to line up where I want them.
i use a mac so all i have is the plugin. don't know the steps you would use to import into cutstudio but that's what i'd do. even if it's just to see if all your cut lines are showing up. this is the first i've heard of cutting using the print method directly from illustrator. has it performed properly until now? i dunno but i think most people design in illustrator then import into cutstudio where they can do further editing before cutting. for some reason the machine is not reading that line. try bringing the file into cutstudio and tell us what you see.

what's up with that? maybe someone else can help that has the stand alone version of cutstudio. whatever shows up in the OUTLINE mode of illustrator should be what shows up in cutstudio. at least that's how it works for the plugin.
I just tried to import it in to Cut Studio and it says the file is invalid. Every file I try it says it's invalid. I can copy and paste it in, but then when I try to do the cut lines they are everywhere around the image except on the path where I want it to cut. I'd have to move each point individually.
how old is the cutstudio compared to cs4? maybe you should save the file as .eps and then try importing. also maybe start a new thread with this problem as title........"illustrator file invalid when importing into cut studio". that way we'll get the full fledged cut studio users to respond.
i encounter something like this before but it's because my computer is running out of memory.
if you are working in Illustrator, can you maybe try saving the file in EPS....version ILLUSTRATOR 3 EPS....? and see if that works.

I once had a similar issue with Illustrator CS4 and the CutStudio plugin (cutting directly out of Illustrator). A Century Gothic lower case "L", converted to outline - which is just a simple rectangle - would not cut, even though it showed up correctly in the plugin. The cutter just skipped it every time. I considered the too-little-memory possibility but that wasn't the problem in this case. It was too few anchors in the character. When converted to outlines, the lowercase "L" is comprised of 4 anchors (one at each corner). I added a few anchors along the long sides and it cut.
