Default HELP! Design won't go to cutter

I am sending the design to my Roland, like I have done 1,000's of times, and it didn't start cutting. I checked in my control panel and the jobs went to the Roland, but there were errors. I canceled those jobs, made sure the Roland was online, turned of the Roland and computer, unplugged them, practically stood on my head and held my breath. Same thing. I'm out of ideas. I needed to get this job cut yesterday. What can I do?? I have checked my usb cord and it is plugged up and when I unplug it the computer makes a sound. Please help!

Out of curiosity, have you tried to cut any OTHER job? That, at least, would let you know if it's an issue with the cutter, the computer or the file in question.

I've had software "go stupid" on me before and refuse to send to my printer or my cutter. Then again, I've also had hardware do the same and suddenly forget that there's a printer/cutter attached.

After that, start back-tracking to find where the problem might be. It might surprise you. I had one friend who printed a document just fine. Ten minutes later she tried again and nothing happened. Three hours later I get a call. I found the problem in almost no time. Turns out the sound of the printer attracted her new kitten. The kitten saw the cable swaying from the printer's shaking and decided it was prey (or looked tasty... who knows :-p). Sharp little kitten teeth made short work of a chunk of cable. Enough was still connected that the computer could see the printer, but not enough for there to be a successful print. One new cable (tied out of kitten's reach) later and she was printing again just fine.

After HOURS of work I have it up and running again. I deleted the cutter, went to Roland and downloaded an upgrade and driver. It took some time but the sound of cutting vinyl never sounded so sweet. The tech people at Roland were very patient and understanding. Problem solved.

Glad to hear it!

I get a "new noise" shortly, too. I just received a tracking number that's letting me know my almost-new Hotronix will be here tomorrow. I still have to order up vinyl and a few other goodies but you can bet I'm psyched!

I really love my cutter. I don't think I could operate the business without one. Thanks for brainstorming with me. Enjoy your new equipment.
