Just thought I would come on here and get some advice.
I have been looking at making money from my drawings for a while now, but I have looked at DTG and it's too expensive to start up on my own with it. So I am looking at the Vinyl Plotters and transfers.
I have looked a company in the Uk that are doing the whole thing in one company. They supply a SummaCut D60 R FX and a 3030 Heat Press - 15x15 inch heat plate. Website blow: their website
What I want to know. Is the plotter and press any good? They seem to be good, but I have never used or had one before (I have been in the large format trade).
Plus they have recommended a Pro-Seal Verso and Pro-Seal Rapide for the type of work I said I will be doing. But is that also any good, or is Thermoflex or Easyweed better? As I have been reading up on them on the internet.
I can't find a supplier of Easy weed in the UK, anyone help?
I'm sure I will have more questions, but I am tired and I have asked enough for now.
I got samples of garment films from most of the UK suppliers and the film from the link you gave disintergrated after washing.
The Summa is a top notch plotter but consider the Graphtec as it is cheaper and comes with a stand.
Also the heat presses from that link are horifically expensive, eg a 6inch square press for over £900 is way out.
If you're just renting then you might as well just give them a try. As already said, the Summa is a great machine but I also agree the heat presses are silly money - but since you're renting it's no big deal.
What is the work you'll be doing that requires the pro seal?

I don't know the differences in the vinyls, which is why I am here.
I got in touch with the company and said I was interested in the easyweed and the thermoflex I have read about on this forum. Which, is why they sent me said samples. I have no idea what the pro seal is, and how it compares to what I requested from them.
With what I have read up on here. I will go for the easy weed and thermoflex and not used the ones the company supplies. So I need to find a supplier. Weather it's in the UK or one thats supplies the UK.
No printing. Just wanted to use straight out vinyl, but layered work (up to 5 colours).
1.Careful! doing 5 colour layered work will be a very complicated piece of work to do, apart from the fact that the shirt might be too heavy and uncomforable to wear. Printing it on a transfer paper might be a better solution.
Many people complain about the 'thick' feel of just one layer. In my opinion, more than one would be horrible!

depends what the design is, how big it is, that kind of thing. often you can get away with more colours just by slightly overlapping them at the edges rather than a full overlap. also depends on how thick your vinyl is.
