Best way to make 2 color decal without wasting a lot of vinyl Software: Flexi.
So I learned to make 2 color decals, using registration marks, cutting out two colors of the same size, lining up the registration marks, etc.
My only problem is this. If I am making a decal that is 12" x12" and the 2nd color is simply a 4" square block of text,
I still end up cutting out that 2nd color as large as the first in order to have registration marks.
This is both costly and in-efficient when I make 100 of these decals.
What I've done more recently is just use a light table to lay the 2nd layer, but then I end up with two layers of masking on my design, which isn't a very sell able item when it doesn't look clean.
Do I have to waste the vinyl on that second layer?
Or is there a good trick that I am missing.
Normally I would just lay the 2nd layer if it were a solid piece of vinyl with an x-acto and no masking, since there is no intersecting layers of vinyl.
This particular design is text and I need to use masking, therefore not losing proper letter registration.
The easy answer would be to place the second layer with masking and a light table, but I want to stray away from the 2 piece of masking issue.
Any thoughts by the guru's would be great.
