I went to cut out a window graphic on my cutter and cannot get it large enough. I wanted the design 14" x 25. When it cut the inside design was only about 6" high but the box cut out around it was 14". Does anyone know how I can get the decal to fill the whole size of the vinyl. I am using Signcut.
Thanks Karen in MA
I am unfamiliar with the Signcut program, however I know that when fonts are abnormally stretched, the printer/cutter may not size it appropriately for output. If you are using a graphics program like Corel or Illustrator, try converting the font to curves (Corel), or create outlines (Illy). If you're doing the whole design in signcut then hopefully someone else will chime in.
It is not a font, just a simple outline for the back of my truck. I am trying to figure out how to get the design to fill the whole piece of vinyl as I need the height. Right now it seems to cut a large tile around it the size that I want the design to be.
Are you entering the right measurements when you resize? Not implying anything, but sometimes the measurement is in cm or mm and people forget to change it to inches. Also, the original could have a box (tile) drawn around it which would make things a little more difficult since you are not doing any editing. Check the measurement, make sure you are using inches, or just post a link to the file and I will resize it for you.
I opened the file up and saved it in PDF then revectorized it into an EPS and same thing. The sign cut seems to leave a large square around the design. I have unchecked the weed box and I still get the same thing.
I really need this to be 14" tall and at mot it will only let me do 7"
As David mentiioned it is cutting the masking layer. Ungroup the graphic and get rid of the box around it. Take a look at your graphic in wireframe and delete what you dont want cut.
I use Signgo and when you click on the cut icon to open the cut box there are 4 tabs on the first tab you can change the size that will be cut. Make sure that it is the size you want. On the right side is a preview window and since you are cutting 25" wide, you will have to make sure that you have rotated the image. There is a little arrow next to height that will change it. make sure that the plottable area is 24" or so wide (I always click "read"). On the panels tab, make sure "roll on flatbed" is checked. Go to cut tab and hit the reset button to make sure that it is at the top left (I do this to make sure that I don't waste vinyl) and hit start. That should help
Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions. There does seem to be a box around it but I cannot figure out how to get rid of it completely. I did go into AI and with the design on the screen I moved the outer box closer to the design. Is there a way to do this with Inkscape or Vector Designer as my trial version of AI is running out and I do not have the $ at this time. Because I work with a Mac, that I love, I have had lots of software issues that is why I use Signcut as there is just not much out there for my Mac.
Thanks, Karen in MA
Thanks again everyone, I managed to remove the box then cut out the design 14" high y 28" long and do not like it. It is an outline and the outline is way too thick. This is going on a back window and I wanted it narrower so it did not interfere with vision. I have now been at the computer for hours trying to figure out how t make the outline narrow.
Thanks, Karen in MA
Not for sure with Illy or Inkscape but with Corel Draw you click contour the inline then distance. Illy and Inkscape is prolly the outline tool, but again I am not for sure on that.
