I have a multi-color design request from a customer who wants an embroidered look. So I'm looking at using the thermo flock to complete the job.
However, I'm a bit stuck on how best to do it.
Normally, if I was using regular vinyl, I would just layer the design on the garment. However in this case, I'm wondering if anyone has done this successfully. If so, what technique did you use?
My other option is to cut the thermo flock and apply it to the garment in sort of a jigsaw puzzle methodology. I know this way is more time consuming, but if layering thermo flock like you would normal vinyl doesn't work, this was the approach I thought of to do it.
Also, I have a Graphtec Craft Robo CC200-20. Can anyone who may have thiscutter tell mewhich color blade cap, force and speed settings you used to cut the thermo flock? I'm short on time so I don't have a lot of time to experiment with the settings.
I've done a 3 colour flock design (dartboard) and I used the jigsaw puzzle method, I didn't layer any of them.
If you get them tight enough they look great and it's not that hard to line up as the 2nd and 3rd colours fit in the gaps left and you can tell when they are located properly.

Thank you very much! The jigsaw puzzle seemed the be the best way. So that's they way I'll go with it. Stahls advised me not to layer the thermo flock and seemed to agree with doing it via the jigsaw puzzle method. But I thought I would come to the forum with this as I know so many people have experiment with these materials and have found sometimes the rules can be broken.
On another note, has anyone ever tried to press regular vinyl on top of flock? I'm just wondering if someone tried this and the result. Basically, placing a detailed design on top of the flock design. Or would the vinyl rip part of the flock off when you peel it from the garment?
I've done it the other way round, with a vinyl design/colour under the flock. I would imagine the vinyl would not stick too well because the flock is fuzzy and the fibres can become loose. I would think it would look like the vinyl was floating on the flock and the edges would probably catch when you rub your hands over the decoration.
