Default Cutter needed only to do letters for cars

OKay I am new to this and currently only in the embroidery business. However I would like to offer "monogram" decals to my customers since we have been asked for them a lot! I would also like to do large decals for walls etc.

That being said, I do not have a cutter so I need to find one to purchase. I only want to do letters. Is there a pretty cheap way to do this? Also, would I need to purchase a software program or would I be able to use photoshop or something like that? I also want to be able to offer any kind of true type font like I can with my embroidery software.

I have gathered so far that I need to use outdoor vinyl for the cars. I would also like to offer a wide variety of bright colors. If anyone has a source for them that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Oracal 651 is great, inexpensive, durable vinyl for lettering. imprintables warehouse or sign warehouse are good sources. Search for their websites on google, I don't know them off hand.

A great vinyl cutter in the mid-range price is the Roland GX-24. It comes with software that lets you import almost any file type, vectorize it automatically and cut it.

If all you want to do is cut lettering, you can probably get away with just using whatever software comes with the cutter you buy. I have the Roland GX24, it came with Cut Studio. Since you already do embroidery, I'd suggest taking a look at the Twill Stitch Pro package that Imprintables Warehouse has - that will give you the capability of doing custom embroidered appliques as well. PM me if you need more info on this package since I already bought it.
