Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
I was just wondering. Since vinyl prints can't be ironed over, does that matter much if your designing vinyl printed shirts for uhmm "fashion" designs? Not sure if something like that would make a huge difference, anyone here have any experiences??
Sorry to offend anyone, I know there are a lot of vinyl afficianatos on here but. . . In my opinion vinyl is not at all suitable for "fashion" printing because of durability issues. Vinyl is more restrictive as far as art goes as well.
It should be said that you shouldn't really iron over plastisol screen prints either.
Vinyl is used in fashion. I've done some work for fashion houses and seen in stores selling vinyl t-shirt. If you market your product you can sell. I even sold digital heat transfer to stores. I've seen name brand sports company with vinyl and other plastic design being sold other than screen printing inks. If you want to sell vinyl t-shirts or apparel don't let other people opinion stop you.

This is why he posted, to ask for peoples opinion. While there might be companies who use vinyl garments, your demographic is going to be much smaller of people wanting to buy that. Todays trend is soft comfortable, breathable garments. I could see the goth demographic being a customer base that would wear vinyl. If you want to try out vinyl go ahead, you never know unless you try.
I agree with polomac, there are fashion companies who have used vinyl.
Dan I don't know where you got the durability issues from, vinyl will compete with and in most cases outlast any screenprint. It never fades and if the right one is used it never comes off. I have a flock design on a t-shirt that's been washed over 50 times and there is no difference in the colour or texture of the flock, the t-shirt has worn more than the design. I use it to show people how tough and durable vinyls are.

I mis-understood the thread. I thought he wanted to use vinyl garments not printing with vinyl. So I would say go for vinyl printing, but not Vinyl apparel.
I remember my dad had one, it was an all in one suit with elastic around the ankles, he wore it under a tracksuit, went jogging, sweated a LOT and when he came home he would stand in the bath and let the sweat out the bottom of each leg. Nice. NOT
