We've had our Roland GX-24 for a week now and have learned a lot from this forum. I have yet another question/problem. I load the vinyl, do the test cut and make adjustments. Sometimes it cuts the test fine at 100, sometimes it takes all the way up to 160, which seems very odd. One I get a clean test cut, I proceed to cut the graphics and I end up with a mess. Sometimes it doesn't cut all the way through, other times it just rips right through the backing, and most time it will do both on the same cut. We are going to order a couple of new blades. The strip where the blade cuts has a groove down it so I'm thinking that needs to be replaced???? Any other suggestions? (The offset is .250). Would the blade holder make a difference? I have also checked the blade in the holder and that seems to be correct.
where'd you buy yours? it sounds like you might need to send it in for adjustments. i've had mine for months now and haven't had to reset anything since making my original settings. i'd talk to your sales rep to see what's up. good luck.
Interesting. Is this something that needs to be done on occassion? We purchased it used. We watched it run and it seemed to cut everything fine at the time.
If you're cutting through the backing paper, your force is too much-70 is average for textile vinyl, and about 30-40 for sign vinyl.
A groove in your cutting strip? You need a new one - but not expensive:>).
Also, make sure the blade is not protruding too far-you should just feel it scrape your skin if you lightly pass your thumb over the bottom of the blade holder.
Finally-what software are you using? Cut Studio is (sometimes) free, and a plug-in for Corel-you could try that?

If I changethe force to anything under 100, it barely scratches the vinyl. I'm thinking a new strip will be ordered with a new blade tomorrow. Is that something that is easy to be replaced?
I put a credit card up to the blade and the blade sticks out about 3/4 of that. Maybe that is too much then??
The software I'm using is CutStudio.
