Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
i have the 5100-75 (a year newer model i think) and wouldn't trade it for anything on the planet it's a hands-down workhorse and i've run it hard every day for 5+ years and the only thing i've had to do is replace blades, cutting strip and recently the blade holder.
as to what to do with it.......well........cut vinyl! shirt or sign - there is no automatic registration on that model, so contour cuts for transfers won't work, but it is one fine piece of sign making equipment. oh! you can also get water based felt tip pens to use instead of the blade holder and draw paper patterns for neon or channel letters or......you get the idea

Yes - we will be cutting vinyl. Lots of lettering for little league, softball, etc. I know it's not a contour cutter, but I figure that if we really need that, we can sell this one and get one that does the contour cutting.
We're excited - but now we have to find the room for the new baby, and all it's accessories and paraphernalia.
No - Im not complaining.
it actually takes up less space than you think! i'm hoping you got the stand with it, yes? since i'm somewhat vertically challenged, that's a real plus for me coz it rolls and i can pull it out to get around to the back with a 50 yd roll of 30" material - it's heavy!!

Unfortunately, we did not get the stand. or a material feeder.
I don't think we'll be doing much with 50 ft pieces - after all, we mainly will be doing transfer lettering, etc.
We really wanted a roland 24", but 'settled' for this one instead.
I figured if it ended up too big, someone would trade...
i have both a roland and a graphtec - and for what it's worth, the roland sits in a corner most of the time with a cover over it's head the graphtec's cutting ability is sooooo far above the roland it's no contest. i get FAR better results - very precise cutting on very small detail - with the graphtec. granted, it's an older roland, but i have friends here with new roland models that will occasionally bring me complicated jobs with teeny cuts and ask me to cut it for them so it doesn't take a week to weed
too bad about not getting the stand - it's a handy thing to have! i don't have the media basket either...

Hi, I have watched tutorials on the graphtec robos and would love to have one. The site descriptions tell that it has plug ins for illustrator and another. Do you have to use a particular program like illustrator, or could I use microsoft Picture it 2001 platinum? I understand I would have to probably export to the graftec program but can I creat my t graphics in my pic it first? Thanks.
