Dont you need to create another cut line?
Thats how I do it, I use Illi CS3, then select Path>Offset path, then put that new path that has just been created on a new layer.
Then just send the new outline layer to the cutter
Re: How do I select only the outside(contour) of my complex ready made object in cutting master 2?
I don't understand guys.
For example in illustrator: put 2 stars over one and other so that overlap eachother : then use path ffset path :the innerlines are stil selected and thus cut out.
The stars are very easy (with pathfinder options). But if the design is more complex, if the lines walk in and out and over each other this much harder and takes too much time.
Don't you guys ever run into the same problem?

In illustrator, take the full image and select it- object-compound path-make.
Then go back to object-compound path-release.
You should have a big black shape with a bunch of paths inside of it. You only need the outside shape, it will be one continuous closed path.

Hello, Out da Box.
My shape doesn't turn black at all, but next to that how am I going to not select the innerlines or just select the contour? Beceause a lot lines start at the outside but and inside of the object.
Thanks a million for thinkig with me
I am just wondering if I am crazy don't you guys ever walk against this problem?
Re: How do I select only the outside(contour) of my complex ready made object in cutting master 2?
The best for me but it takes some time and doesn't always seem to work (strangly) is the outline option in pathfinder and then ungroup and than manually select the outerlines you want.
But isn't there an easier way.
I found this way today and I am wondering if you guys use it?
Re: How do I select only the outside(contour) of my complex ready made object in cutting master 2?
I think you should make a copy of the image and set it aside. I would then make the entire thing a solid object and create an outline. The problem I think is when you say the outside path you are actually talking about one of the complete shapes which actually moves inside some of the outside lines. Confusing as that is you should just ungroup the object, create an outline of the part of the object you want.

That is probably as confusing as hell.
No not confusing, that's what I want but how do you make it into a solid object that I can ungroup after.
Re: How do I select only the outside(contour) of my complex ready made object in cutting master 2?
If you look at the screen shot on my earlier post, it is now a solid black shape. You can select the outermost region and it will be one solid shape which you can add an outline or cut line to.
