Re: roland stika 8 vs craft robo? Jamo, I have the Craft Robo and I can tell you, I hate it. If you want to use it for cutting letters and shapes in vinyl, it works fine. Hpwever, it tends to overheat quickly and will delay your cutting time. The unit will halt in the middle of cutting and then start up again after it cools down a bit. Then you will get a message telling you to turn it off and unplug it for about 20 minutes. Then turn it back on to do the next job.
As far as cutting a printed image from heat transfer paper to be applied (opaque) it truly is garbage. I have spent countless trying to get it to work with no success. Their manual is written poorly and will have you jumping all over the place to find the next steps to take. I sent emails to their tech support which they never responded to until i sent off a really nasty one threatening to tell all my colleagues in the t-shirt business to steer clear of this company and its products. Then they responded to me. They had some updated drivers on their website a few months back for download. Each one of the drivers was carrying a trojan horse virus and other malware! The Norton Anti-Virus program and Windows Firewalls on my laptop caught them all before installtion.
I went with this product based on the optical eye feature for reading registration marks. Well, this is the first piece of equipment that can qualify for being able to have a seeing eye dog! IT HAS NEVER READ THE REGISTRAION MARKS SINCE I HAVE HAD IT! I wish I had gone with the Stika. But I have learned my lesson when it comes to theis company. I plan on going with the Roland G-24 as soon as I have enough funds. Roland seems to be the much better product. |
