I know you can contour cut with the Uscutter laser point, but it uses a laser for the contour cutting. I know the q series are rebranded graphtecs. I'm pretty sure the Gcc cutters has a optic eye cutter too.I'm not 100% but Roger (plan B) is a vendor for the GCC cutters he could tell you for sure . ..... JB
Thank's COEDS i know about the uscutter laser point, but it doesn't have the optical eye. I was just thinking the Roland and the Graphtec can't be the only cutters out there with the optical eye there has to be something else out there. Thank's again.
I just checked and summa and Mimaki both have optical eye for contour cutting. These cutters are more expensive than a roland or graphtec. The summa is the most impressive it can contour cut laminated goods too. .... JB

WOW! Contour cuts laminated goods that's very impressive. I was thinking of something cheaper in price not brand other than the Roland GX24 or Graphtech. But look's like the Roland is getting my money. Thank's COEDS

I truly think the Roland is a great machine(I have one) if you need contour cutting, but if not there are much cheaper machines that will do the job. .... JB

I do and I don't need the Contour Cutting features it's very rare when i do inkjet transfers, that's the reason i been holding on to my money tight.
The reason i was asking if there was anything else out there was for the same reason. I don't want to drop $1500 to $1700 dollars on some feature im not going to be using all the time but it seems like i have no other choice.
LOL Im also tempted to buy the uscutter laser point but for some reason i find it to good to be true on the price tag (don't know why)
I own a cheapy cutter that's been treating me right for a while but for some reason is getting tired now (you know what i mean) so i'll be lucky if it lasts me another 3 months.
I am still learning to use my cutter, but I have to say so far I am really impressed with my graphtec One of the things that was a big plus for me was that it came with the stand, does contour cutting and by finding it on sale and then using the forum discount of 5% I got a really great deal on it I think my total was under $1200, I'm a happy camper so far.

Graphtec are a very good machine, although some of the machine consumables can be a bit on the pricey side. What would sell me a good cutter, is one that is quiet!!! Most cutters make more noise than the old dot matrix printers did.
I bought mine from Specialty graphics. They had it on sale for $1250, and then I used the t-shirt forums discount it was the best deal I could find. I almost bought one used for around $1100 and then when I seen the sale, and figured the discount I couldnt believe it hehe.
Wow I just looked and their sale price right now is $1395 so it must have been a really great sale they were having when I got mine. I think it was the 4th of july sale. They do have a thing where on top of that sale price you can get an extra $100 off with a code, on their site. I wonder if you would also be able to get the forum discount with that?

With the $100 code and the forum discount, Wow! that i'll be nice. How do i use the forum discount?
Do i just tell them im a member of this board? Thank's
A good cutter is a good long term investment, I have gone through 2 cheaper models thinking the same way as you. in the end I spent the change on the GX-24 and I love it.

Ambtious, I'm not sure if you can use the t-shirt forums discount code with the other one, but I would call and ask it cant hurt and I think you could probably have a good chance of them honoring it. The code is tshirtforum2007. Hopefully they will let you use it.
R1lover, The graphtec is a one of the top model cutters, and has been around for years
