Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
A good answer or a reference link is all I really need. How do you create the band stickers that you always see on the back of cars. I used to put these on my car all the time.
The sticker has a white back, with black lettering and a clear paper around the lettering. You of course remove the back, press against the car, and then the clear plastic removes from the lettering, leaving a nice contour cut around the edge.
Is a vinyl cutter with an optical eye all you need to create this? Furthermore, is the cutter going to cut around every single letter in the band name, or just an outline cut?
sweet, thats all i needed to know. I've been researching the gx-24 a lot and thinking about buying it. I'm screen printing now so not sure if I have to have it, but it would be nice to be able to print stickers and other things for clients. just wasn't sure if it would cut each individual letter or not.

same here im in screen printing right now and thinking of getting the roland gx 24
So for vinyl cutters and plotters, you can buy either Vinyl Stickers or Vinyl Presses for shirts? What else can you do with the vinyl cutters?
I assume they don't print so to do a heat transfer, you'd need a sublimation printer, but the plotter would cut it out for you. Is all of this sounding correct?
Curious....is there a supplier/vendor that will make them custom. I actually had an inquiry from a customer about them. I told them I'd look into it. I'd rather not make them myself and just outsource it.

Anyone with a vinyl cutter can make these for you. Are you looking for single color? I have a Roland GX-24 we bought for doing tackle-twill appliques but I've also made a bunch of single color decals for friends.
