I am about to purchase a vinyl cutter and I am inbetween two types. Does anyone own or can give a quick review of the Graphtec CE5000 series or the Vinyl Express Qe6o series. They are asking $1795 for the graphtec and $1395 for the Qe60 series.

Hi Christina and .
What types of jobs will you do on your cutter? I opted for a Summa D75-R and have been pleased with it thus far, though it's more than the price range you've listed. My Summa is versatile with what it can cut and is not just geared for cutting apparel materials.
I would not buy the QE series, The reason is that is a signwarehouse product. If you want the Graphtec I would contact US cutter. I made a mistake and bought from signwarehouse and was lied to and promised and lied to again. I had a VP from there tell me to call him and he never returned the calleither. The poor customer service starts at thr bottom, but runs clear to the top. .... JB
just bought the Grapgtec pro and I am very pleased with the performance and after sales service, seems to cut what I throw at it and it has the "eye" to contour cut
I would like to cut designs to put on signs, vehicle windows, store windows, and dirtbikes. I would also like to print sticker kits for dirt bikes and atvs. I want to make t shirts and have the cutter be able to read printed material. I am interested in the laminator too - because most process you print laminate then cut, but I can only afford one machine at a time without taking out a loan. I am avoiding that part as much as possible. I have worked the Vinyl Express Qe series at a job I had before he lost business, but I am researching on better ones with registration sensors. Any suggestions would help. Thanks for your reply.
IN addition, what ink is best for white or clear vinyl to print?
my sty stu -
Do you print on your vinyl? If so, what type of ink is best to use on white or clear vinyl? What is the best vinyl material you have found best for t-shirts, signs, and car windows? the brand or best buy deals-
Thanks for your help

If you want to print directly to vinyl, then what is suggested in the industry is a Roland VersaCAMM printer-cutter-in-one, as it uses Eco-Solvent/Solvent inks.
Other options would be a Gerber EDGE FX or Summa DC4/DC4sx, which are both thermal printers, but the EDGE FX does not cut whereas the Summa does both like the Roland.
Buying a VersaCAMM unit will cost about $11,000 to get into. Lease prices can range (through Roland DGA) from $225-$333/month. If you are just buying a cutter only for now, then you will be limited in colors with your offerings, unless you layer multiple colors. Even with doing so, there is a limit with layering (especially for heat applied materials on apparel).
As for the "best" vinyl to use for tees, signage and windows, you'll want to do quite a bit of searching here to see what many here use. Until you perform your own tests, only then will you find your "best." That's just my belief.
For apparel, it depends on what fabrics you want to apply the heat applied materials to (cotton, nylon, polyester, etc) to know what materials can be used with it. Not all heat applied materials work with all fabrics. Some apparel material brands are Specialty Materials, Spectra/Imprintables, Stahls' ID CAD CUT, Joto Paper, Hotfix Films, to name a few.
Oracal, FDC, GMI offer vinyl for signage and windows, along with and some others I'm sure you'll find around these parts!
Congrats the UScutter brand cutters are really durable form all accounts I'vee heard. I know they have a great following and owners really help each other out. .... JB
