Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
I have a big convention coming up to which I am the only t-shirt supplier/printer.
I would like to precut and weed many of the vinyl transfers ahead of time. I'm using eco-film and Megatallic vinyls.
does anyone have ideas for storage of these pre-weeded transfers? they have a stickyback and was thinking parchment or wax papers but am hoping there is a tried and true way of doing this.
thanks
Bill

Thats exactly what I would use. I then use pizza boxes to store them in. I bought pizza boxes at Sams club and they work great. I can store and stack easily. I like this metod. ..... JB

these should work well.
I just found the boxes in stock always at GFS stores. I will never use any other storage source. .... JB

Re: Eco-Film and megatallic pre-cut storage ideas.
I would protect the adhesive side of the transfer with cellophane,, you can use the good stuff from the craft stores or you can use plain old plastic food wrap.
Re: Eco-Film and megatallic pre-cut storage ideas.
arent you concerned about the cello/wax/parchment papers sticking to the backing too aggressively?
I usually just pile them ontop of each other, making sure the sticky side doesnt touch another sticky side. They peel apart just fine.
Roger, why do you want to protect the sticky side? From adhereing to another sticky side?
Ive been using this stuff for quite a while, and Im finding the way you are storing it (weeded) quite interesting......and Id like to know why you all do it that way
Re: Eco-Film and megatallic pre-cut storage ideas.
I don't have any problems with the cellophane or food wrap with the transfers, it will protect the sticky side from dust or other stuff from getting on the sticky part of your weeded transfer, also I am maybe a little over carefull about adhesive protection so I like to cover it so it in turn doesn't get dust or other stuff on it.
Re: Eco-Film and megatallic pre-cut storage ideas.
I wondered what is a GFS store also. But I use Freezer paper to store my "weeded" designs on, they release very well, when I have just stuck them on top of each other I had lots of problems with some of the vinyl coming off and the mylar getting big wrinkles/creases. I really like the idea of using pizza boxes (otherwise -all my preweeded transfers are in a pile(pain in the butt).

Re: Eco-Film and megatallic pre-cut storage ideas.
Just got back from the show and the pizza box idea worked excellent.
I would cover the first sheet with wax paper then simply stack the rest on top of each other, being careful that I did not stack adhesive to adhesive. then I put the stack into gallon size zip-lock bags.
this also worked out really really well.
We tripled last years sales by having several designs pre-cut whereby saving on workflow time allowing us to squeeze in more sales per hour.
I realized this year that workflow is extremely important as there are only so many tees we complete per hour based on our workflow.
next year we will re-work this concept to allow an even more efficient use of time designing, cutting and pressing.
With the pizza boxes and pre-cutting we averaged $200 an hour vs $75 an hour with one design station and one cutter over last year. I'd say all in all this was a very good show.
Thanks for the ideas.
