hi all, Im a total newbie so don't laugh if I sound stupid, lol. I just bought a new artsign 54" cutter. Got it set up and working somewhat but the cutting blade does not lift when it moves from letter to letter. Cutting window sticker type stuff. So while its plotting and going from letter to letter it keeps cutting and is slicing through everything else. The head piece itself does not move freely up and down, its kinda stiff like its rubbing the plate behind it. I don't understand it. Im pretty computer literate but I know nothing about cutters. Any advice would be appreciated.
I've never seen that type of cutter, but is there a cover over the blade holder that you can take off and see if there's something preventing it from allowing it to move freely?
Also, this could very well be a motherboard issue on the cutter.
thnks, I took the cover off and moved the holder by hand, thats how I know it doesnt move very freely. I have no experience with these machines but it seems to me that assembly should easily move up and down for the pressure adjustment. Anyone have a cutter that could tell me if thats the case. I would think they all work on the same principle. When I move the part of the assembly that holds the cutting blade either up or down it makes like a scraping noise and stays wherever I put it.
FYI everyone, the electromagnet was bad out of adjustment,(has adjustment screws under the cutting head) figured it out after a while, and the pulley under the non-drive side cover was not in its slots, fixed and working very good now! Thanks for the input, looking forward to being creative!
Thanks! Luckily I'm pretty mechanically inclined, would have hated to pay shipping to send it back, plus the 20% restocking fee. These machines are actually pretty simple when you breakdown the engineering on them. I was pleasantly suprised! Really glad it wasn't a motherboard problem though, lol.
