How to print multi color designs (including white) on dark Tee's
Newbie here...I want to print multi-colored (including white and just plain white) designs on dark (black) tees...I 've been told "get a vinyl cutter" etc but that seems difficult...Is there an easy way to print on black tees? I have the Brother GT541 but cannot print white on black....I have the Hix press, so can do transferes, but...well, what do I do for white on black? Multi colored designs on black (like Harley Davidson biker tee's , etc etc)..
Any help including private messages will be greatly appreciated....thanx

I'm sure if your doing a lot of the same design, you could order plastisol transfers. If your doing small quantities, I would say the vinyl is the way to go. I'm sure you can have someone custom cut vinyl for you. If you post in the need for service area. .... JB

Re: How to print multi color designs (including white) on dark Tee's
If you are only doing one at a time then I guess another dtg that uses white ink ( I also have a Brother)
If you were ordering quite a few of a design then the pastisol transfers from someone like transfer express would work great.
Other than that I don't know. tranfers of course but I am not a big fan of the transfers.
Was Going To Buy Roland Gx-24 But I Want To Do Multicolor Vinyl...stumped?!!
I own a Brother DTG541, but it doesn't do white ink on black tees...everyone says heat transfers suck, and that vinyl is the way to go, but I don't want to spend over $1500 on a Roland that doesn't do multicolor!! I mean, I don't want to be limited to just one color, as that seems a bit of a waste....so back tot my original dilemma: how to do white and multicolored on a black tee (please don't suggest that I buy an additional DTG that does white, as I don't have the $$ to get another and wouldn't want two....Help??!!!!!!!...Thanx

Re: How to print multi color designs (including white) on dark Tee's
Thanks Rodney for merging....OK, everyone, what I am trying to do is print a multicolored design INCLUDING WHITE on a black tee....I do not want to outsource to a plastisol screener, I want to be able to do vinyl myself, but definitely want to print on black tees....so it would be a waste to buy a Rolcan when that only prints one color easily (to do a multicolor design on it is brutally hard)....
So what is a newcomer to do?? I really loved the Roland, but layering a multicolored design is WAY too time consuming and a pain....Thoughts??

A roland gx-24 and some good QUALITY transfer paper for darks works very well and it pretty durable for me. I'm using aplha gold for darks and others are having success with some batches of ironall for darks as well.
Re: How to print multi color designs (including white) on dark Tee's
I think the suggestion above to order plasitol transfers is the way to go. when You order them you can also gang them up on the sheet so that you get more for your money. F & M is one company that allows you to put multiple designs per sheet. I would at least check it out to see if it is something that would work. The plasitols are still transfers so you would be able to apply them as needed, but they are screen printed so you dont get and window, the only think transfered is the ink. This is a great suggestion for doing darks at a low cost but still have good quality.

I don't know if there is a "perfect" solution that will do what you want to do and have the top quality.
Plastisol transfers are really the way to go, and the way that most people do it (and have the best quality)
Other ways of doing it would be opaque inkjet transfers for dark shirts, but your customers may not like the quality. You should try it out yourself and see if that type of transfer will work for you. If not, I don't know what other options you might have.
Keep in mind that the roland gx-24, doesn't "print" anything, it just cuts solid pieces of vinyl. There is a Roland VersaCAMM that *does* print and cut, but you'd be looking at another $20,000 piece of equipment.

But Plastisol means going to a screen printer and ordering a plastisol transfer, therefore adding cost, time, expense, hassle, etc ...yes?
Re: How to print multi color designs (including white) on dark Tee's
Call a transfer company like transfer express or ace. There is no setup and they come in a box ready to print.
I actually just used them the other day because all of mines screens are tied up with other things and I needed a 3 color print.
