Default Graphtec and a Mac need help

OK, I ordered a Graphtec CE5000-60 and it gives almost zero info on setting up with my mac. I do not have Illustrator but have inkscape. There is a folder for cutting master and cutting master 2 on the install disk. How do I know which to use? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,

I hate to say this, but ROBOMaster Pro (the horrible design software for this plotter) will only work with a PC. Cutting Master 2 will install on a Mac, but unfortunately what it is is just a bridge from Illustrator to your plotter.

So...you will need to buy Illustrator in order to use this machine on a Mac (or just about any other plotter, in fact), unless there's some Mac software that has a bridge to your plotter that I haven't heard of (because I'm a PC user).

Sorry.

Thanks Chani. I will go and get illustrator. I have used it in the past. I did not want to plunk down more money but it is what it is.

WAIT!

I found something!

Welcome to SignCut-X2 (sc-x2)

This will work with Inkscape. You can either buy the full version that you can take anywhere without an internet connection (good for festivals), or you can purchase subscriptions, but you need to have an internet connection to use it.

Chani thanks. I need to decide I guess between using this one with Inkscape or the one that came with the cutter with Illustrator. You use CorelDraw with the cutting master right? How do you like it?

I really like Cutting Master 2. It's a pretty fully-featured bridge to our plotter.

I'm considering getting SignCut for the Roland that I'm testing out (the subscription, not the dongle version). I really don't like CutStudio (Roland's software) for vinyl.

Thanks Chani. I think I am going to lay down the cash for illustrator tomorrow.

Thanks again,
Mike
