Default removing vinyl from a banner

hello everyone
I was wondering what is the best way to remove vinyl from a banner? I know a heat gun works well but is there a faster way?

Thanks Rob

I've read about some spray products that help in removal. I haven't used any to be able to comment good or bad though.

unless all you're doing is something small - like changing a date or something - personal experience is it's FAR more time and cost effective to make a whole new banner..... i've spent more time trying to remove the old adhesive than i care to count....it ain't worth it!!

i agree 100 % with jberte..
We tell our customers this all the time..
rof.. i get a miminum of 40.oo just to change the date on a banner.
..
banner blanks are cheap and time is money..
but to remove vinyl.. this is what you do
get a little thing called the lil chisler.
use it to pry under the corners of the vinyl you want removed. and pull
I dont use a heat gun to remove the vinyl..

after removing. use a product like rapid remover to get all the gunky glue off.

hope this helps
sue

this little gadget is very similar to a pot scraper you might have in your kitchen junk drawer.

Something else to consider. If this banner has been outside, it is very likely you will have ghosting from the graphics you are taking off.

You might be better off if you are redoing large amounts of the banner to just get a new one.

Agree... a new banner is cheaper and easier then your labor to peel everything!

i don't use the heat gun when i remove old vinyl from banners.
the adhesive residues are very easy to remove with isopropilic alcohol
