Default Dual Layer Vinyl Guru Needed - need help getting it to apply correctly

Hi,

I am doing some vinyl transfers... not normally my thing but hey it's $$$

I have a little issue and hoping there is an easy solution..... LOL

It is two layers, 1 black then a reflective silver on top

I made the silver 1cm smaller (height and width) than the black but it still hasn't worked. the 'inside" edges of the letters don't leave a "border" of the black.

Anyway I have attached a pic of what it SHOULD look like and how they actually sit.

(Orange, what I am trying to achieve)
C looks good but note the inside edge
F same story
and S the same??

I'd appreciate any help you can give!

Thanks

No! No! Bad Boy! You can not do it that way. You need to outline the text and use that outline as your bottom layer. When you reduce the top layer, it is proportional, so it will not line up. Just outline the text.

I totally agree with Mark. I know in your mind it should work but it doesnt. You need to outline or inline the text and either cut by color or ungroup and cut individually.

OK,

Thanks for those tips guys! It was really beginning to bug me because the theory sounded OK....... LOL

I knew someone must have been through this! And the person who is doing the cutting for me is new to this too so we are having a steep learning curve!

Thanks again

I'm pretty sure one of the video's that Josh Ellsworth posted on youtube shows how to use cutstudio and the offset function to do this. In Corel, you would use the contour function to create the offset. Another place to look is advancedartist.com, I think some of their videos also show how to use the contour function in Corel.

I always use the offset function in Cut Studio like they said above, it's in Josh's video.

I guess I made it sound like I was doing something new. When I said the new way , I meant the way Josh's video showed verses overlaying each letter. .... JB
