Post vinyl cutter questions

I am looking into buying a vinyl cutter for the first time and I think that the Stika sv-8 looks like the best one so far. The only problem I have run into is that I noticed the max. loading width is 8" and I normally only make print designs on Alpha Gold Dark inkjet heat transfer paper that is 8 1/2x 11". Will I still be able to use this cutter? Is there something else of the same quality that I can buy for around the same price that would be more efficient? Should I use a different paper? Thanks for your help!

I suggest you look at a larger cutter. This will allow you to do your designs you already do and allow you to upgrade to arger designs later without having to ypgrade your equipment. I have foud if I buy what I think I need, I always have to upgrade in a short time. You can do smaller designs with the larger cutter, not larger designs with a smaller cutter. I just wanted to give you some food for thought ...... JB

....the Stika's DO NOT have an optical eye......please correct me everyone if I am wrong....

The "graphtec craft robo PRO" has everything that a large cutter does....I think it accepts 19" wide material and it cuts up to 14.7 inches wide.
It is a great desk top model from what I have heard....but I do agree with JB.....
If you can afford to get a bigger cutter do so.
I was going to get the CRAFT ROBO PRO but found a distributer 12 miles from my home and purchased it's "Big Sister" the Graphtec CE-5000-60......a 24" cutter!

I think that for what you will be using it to do(contour cutting transfer paper, right?) you will need an optical eye.....please "cutter people" , pitch in......

uscutter also sells graphtec too. the laserpoint 24 is also very affordale. try uscutter.
great company, they have a great forum, u won't regret it. i owned a craftrobo 200 for about 2 weeks before realizing i needed a bigger cutter. that's when i found uscutter.
i paid more for my craft robo than my 24' pcut from uscutter. umm. i have made t shirts galore. magnetic signs, window decals and more. i only purchased it for window decals ha ha ha. i love the forum. everybody helps each other like a real family. it's awesome. try it. u can also ask before purchasing.

US Cutter has excellent products for the price. Believe me, once you get your cutter you're gonna be doing ALOT more then you think right now.

Just watch the forums there are some real snobbie people over there like Joe Camaro, Terry, Firemalt those guys are pure snobs. J/K best group of guys you'll never meet.

I suggest you buy bigger than you need. I think a 24 inch cutter is the best choice. .... JB
