What cutter are you looking at? I would suggest that you look for a distributor that is near you to see if they can train you once you figure out what brand you like. If you are not sure about which brand, then I would recommend you take a road trip to Baltimore on either Thursday, Friday or Saturday to go to the NBM Printwear Show. You will be able to see most of the cutters at this show. You also might be able to find a good deal on one. If you go to this show, I would recommend stopping by some of these booths:
- Imprintables Warehous
- Conde
- Coastal Businesss Supplies
- The Paper Ranch
- RPL Supplies
- Graphtec
- Fellers

There will be a plenty of booths that will have cutters to look at. If you are going to make the trip to the show, PM me your email address and I will get one of the companies above to send you a Free Pass to the show. This will save you around $25.00 or so.

Good luck with your research on cutters.

Mark

I know that there are videos supplied by Vinyl Cutters, heat presses, heat transfer material, transfer papers and heat printing supplies all at affordable prices. that show the proper operation of the GX24 by Roland. These videos have prooved to be invaluable to me with showing how to do contour cutting. I can see if this was my first cutter they would have been the ticket to showing me the entire operation from setup to cutting. . .... JB

Honestly,Ain't no better way of learning than actually having your hand's on it,trust me i did all the youtube stuff,uscutterforum,t-shirtforum.etc..

They are very, helpful but when you have your cutter, so you could know what there talking about.

Buy a cutter and start playing with it.You also might want to buy a cutter that has support, training, and fast customer service for when you get stuck on something there able to help right away, not 2 day's later or a month later.Goodluck

I didn't want to face it but I know you are right, the best way to learn is hands on. I guess I'll have to buy one THEN learn how to use it.

The cutter is only 50% of the equasion. the software running the cutter is what you really need to learn. I am in asheville NC and would be happy to discuss this further on pm or by phone. in the biz for 10 years....
