Default Mac users out there?

Are there any designers out there that use Mac on a windows network?

Basically I design on my mac, then have to send it to the print server running Wasatch SoftRIP 5.1.5 which in turn rips the design and my plates are kicked out via the 7600.

The problem I'm having is getting the Mac to see the Wasatch softrip program. It can see the printer but I need it to RIP from Photoshop or Illustrator, be placed in ques and looked at before printed.

I've bought 3rd party software for this specific issue but yet they say "Oh by the way, you have to now purchase more software for Mac."

Any help out there is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure if I can help but we are running Macs on a network. We have a HM-1 DTG printer which uses a PC RIP. We had some issues getting our Macs to talk with the PC but now have no issues. It is more of a permissions issue I think. Are you running OSX and if so what version. We switched over to 10.5 and had all kinds of issues right away. After much hair pulling I found we needed an update to the OSX software to repair some permissions issues. This seemed to clear up our problems. Running Macs and PC's in the same network is always a problem. We have been using Windows servers since the beginning since no Mac servers were available at that time. I must admit though, our Windows 2000 Server software is pretty stable. It runs 24/7 and only shuts down when we have a power outage. I don't know why you would need any additional software since OSX is more friendly to Windows than ever before.

I think you need to call your RIP software help line to see if they can help. Good luck though. It seems we are living in a PC world but that's okay with me. Let the PC users get all the viruses, I'll take my Mac any day.

Default Re: Mac users out there?

Hey Thanks for the info, and yes W2kserver is probably the best OS Microsoft has ever put out. I am anxious to see how the OSX Server compares.

I still can't talk to the PC based 7600 running Wasatch. And since the warranty has ran out about a year ago, they offer NO tech support. So I'll have to get the new 1.0.0.0.0.0.05.0.2.6 (being sarcastic) version in order to get the tech support that should come standard with any software.

Thanks for the help though.
