I'm sure the reason it is noisey is it uses a stepper motor. The stepper motor is much noiser than the servo type motor. The servo motor powered machines are mor expensive. .... JB
I think of mine as a robotic auctioneer. It is noisey but not noisey enough to get a divorce, unless there's more to the story
Get one, you'll love it for the price.
the noise is tolerable. u don't have to shout above it or anything, it's a machine that's running. i own more expensive machine that are louder than my cutter, such as paper jogger, martin yale business card cutter, martin yale paper folding machine which all three r extremely loud but get the job done. again they r machines. i own the pcut and it's not that loud. i had a graphtec craft robo 200 and it was louder than my pcut. hope this helps.
I have a US Cutter LaserPoint 24. It's not near as loud as I had thought based on reading forums. It's not as loud as the old dot matrix printers I had years ago. It's not even as loud as the Epson c120 loading paper, now that'll make you jump. It's really not as loud as the sustained drone of the window unit ac in the room. To me it makes more of a "squeaky" sound as it moves and cuts. I like the sound it makes.

I have an USCutter Refine. People say it is noisey, I dont notice it. Maybe I got used to it, or maybe I love the sound cuz its the sound of money! Cutter noise = $$$
To me that sound is the sound of me not lining up each individual letter or component of a design on a t-shirt and hoping each part is straight. I still like that sound.

If your having alignment issues you should invest in a www.tesequareit.com and put your alignment woes behind you. This is the best alignment tool on the market . .... JB
is it very noisy? can i use it in the house without getting a divorce ultimatum?
regards earl
Haha, Earl, that is cute... All I can do is repeat what I've heard, it makes noise but not intolerable. But moreover, here's some universal advice on wives from a wife: if my hubby had one, and it was a bit noisy -- if I went to complain - and he told me the wonderful things we could do with the money it could make us, I'd give the hub a hug as well as the cutter. lol.
Mostly, I wanted to say congrats on the new toy, hope it goes great.
