Hi Strops,
I don't have a cutter, but I can help get you on your way. If you are going to use Jetprosofstretch paper (
JPSS), then you should purchase pigment ink for your printer. Alot of Epsons come with pigment. If you think you'll switch to a bulk ink system later on, to save on ink cost, just make sure before you buy one that there is a bulk ink system available for it.
I read alot of cutter threads bc I am interested in buying one. I haven't seen anyone using an HP that I know of. One thing a cutter must be able to do to use it with
JPSS is be able to do "contour cutting". It should have an optical eye. That is what the other cutters have to have, so I am assuming here, that other brands will need that capability as well. Is it possible to contact the supplier you bought the cutter from and ask them what it is capable of? Sometimes suppliers are a good source of information as far as capabilities. Also, do you have the manual? If not, can you find it online to download?
A short note on Claria ink: Claria is a dye ink, but it is water resistant dye ink. Some of the epsons come with Claria ink. This has been tested with
JPSS and did not wash out or fade. There are threads on the forum by folks who are using it successfully, but it is new, and tests are limited. I think there have been around 5 different papers folks have used, and had great results. I'm only saying, Claria, though new, may be a possible alternative to pigment ink, and if your printer comes with it, it is possibly worth a try to test it out. The standard is to just switch to pigment ink, but Claria may be different from epson's other dye based inks. Just a heads up, it's all still be confirmed at this point.
Best regards, Kelly
