Default Best way of making one color transfers on stretchable shirts

Hi

Wanted to get your opinion on the best way to customize a 4 way stretchable shirt. The shirt is black and I only need to do 1 colour names/logos to customize the shirt. However, these are only one off custom designs. Similar to what NikeID is doing with their stretchy performance wear.

Is vinyl transfers the only way to do it? Can the vinyl transfers stretch? As far as I know you can't do one offs for Plastisol transfers - or you can but it's very expensive.

Thanks

Rip

I don't know if vinyl is stretchable, but it seems like DTG might be the way to go for this.

Look at something like Elasticut from Imprintables Warehouse. I have a roll coming next week for someone to use on bathing suits.

I also got a transfer from Ace that says it's for lycra and other stretchy materials.

I have not used this vinyl, but have used hotmark 70 for under armour type shirts with great success. I know others on the forum use stuff from Joto and from heatpress vinyl.com. .....JB

Rip,i Think You Can Go About This 2 Ways, you Can Use A Contour Cut (cut In A Vinyl Cutter) Strechable Opaque Heat Transfer, coastal Business Sells Them,or A Heat Applied Strechable Vinyl Like Elasticut From Imprintables( It Is On Overstock Sale Right Now!) However The Elasticut Its Kinda Tricky To Use (maybe For Me Because I Am A Newbie To Vinyl Cutting) Its A Multi Layer Product So I Guess It Takes Some Getting Use To.if Any One Has Used This Product I Would It If You Chimed In,im Curious To Know How Much Force You Used To Cut It And What Degree Blade?.i Hope This Helps You Out Rip,let Me Know How You Make Out.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll try some stretchable vinyl products I can source locally here.

I did nothing special and the application was no different on stretchable shirts using the Hotmark 70. I have a customer that has several full front heavy designs andthey have held up over a year now. These really get stretched with my customer, he buys a xl compression shirt and really needs a 2x. I know the Hotmark 70 will do the job with out any issues. ..... JB

Just out of curiosity, is this stretchable vinyl stretchy enough to use on a 2x1 ribbed shirt?

I just cut some last night, I think I had the GX24 set to 160 grams, it cut like butter. I just mailed it to another forum member, she is going to heat press them onto bathing suits and see how it works. I was using the standard 45 degree blade and I think I slowed it down slightly. I pressed a couple of test pieces on a polyester garment and it looked pretty good, now I have to run it through the washer/dryer for a few days and see how it holds up.

How about Dura Cut as it is an ink based material you can cut on a plotter and heatpress.

Santos, interesting to hear you say that. I've never used it before, my first test started at 150g and was almost perfect, I upped it to 160g and it cut with no problems. I only weeded 3 or 4 pieces, I sent the rest to the other member unweeded because I didn't want them sticking together. The couple that I did weed were no problem at all... I'll let you know once I hear back from her how they work out.

ted,im going to try your setting to see if i get better results,im thinking im going to slow the speed down to 15cpm im sure that i am doing something wrong because the ones that i did cut were horrible after the first washing and even worst after the first dry cycle, the graphic started to peel off,i have never had that happen before.
