Default matching Plastisol and vinyl color

Howdy,
Newbie.
Got a question about putting plastisol and vinyl on the same shirt and being able to match the color(s).
Got a request to do some softball shirts for a buddy's team. Pretty simple shirts.
Team name on front (no tails or anything just text) and then on the back the name and the number. Pretty simple.
The shirt is gonna be on a Wikz white shirts. They want the text/numbers in purple.
I was thinking of doing the name/numbers in vinyl and the front team name in plastisol transfer.

I use multicut and they have purple vinyl with a pantone number of 273U.
If I order the plastisol transfer with the same number they should match then ?

I thought of doing both sides in vinyl but being in Florida thought they might get too hot.

THanks
Mark

How many do you have to do? if you do less then 12 you should vinyl cut it will easy and you won't lose time trying to match colors. If you really want to use plastisol on the front call your local ink supplier and they will tell you exactly what ink to use.

I wouldn't count on a plastisol transfer from one place matching vinyl from another, even if it's the same Pantone number. It should be pretty close but I bet it's not exact. I have both Unions and Rutlands PMS matching systems for plastisol ink and the same PMS numbers are never exactly the same between the two.

I agree getting two medias from different places to match is not practical. I would just get it close and go on. .... JB

Thanks for the info. Think I will just give it a go. Hopefully won't be too far off.

However whats the point of th Pantone color system then if they can't be matched ? Curious.

I think it to match threads and ink. I agree though it would make good sense for it to be universal. Good luck .... JB
