Default blades

I just found out my new cutter shipped with the 60 degree blades--assumed they were the far more common 45 so I have used them for everything. I successfully cut sign vinyl and tee shirt vinyl for 35 shirts. What should I expect when I switch to the 45 degree blades, or should I?

The 60 degree blade is mainly used for cutting heavier material like flock. the 45 degree blade is for cutting regular vinyl (heat press and sign). I would think you would get a smoother cut fron the 45 degree blade, but I'm not sure. I wish when you try that you post your experience. ..... JB

In addition to thermal transfers, I cut a lot of vinyl for radio controlled car bodies. The details are always very small. Sometimes I cut letters that are only 3/16" tall. The 60 degree blade will cut the ultra-fine details better because it contacts the material less than blades with a steeper angle. And like the other post says; 60's are better for thick material also because the blade pierces the material easier because of its smaller surface area. Make sure to use the correct offset. That will help the blade to track more accurately on corners.
