I really feel dumb asking this question but is there a particular way the cutting blade should be facing? For example is the angle part of blade facing the rear of the machine or the front. Or does it not really matter the direction the blade is facing? I just do not want to ruin the blade before I start. I just got the GX24 yesterday afternoon. Thanks.
Unless I'm mistaken, it's kindof like the bottom of a diamond? I don't think it matters. I don't believe there is a front/back of the blade, it's pretty much just a pointed end cut at a specific angle.
I just got my cutter 2 weeks ago, dropped the blade in the holder and went... haven't had any issues with it yet. Very nice piece of equipment...
Best advice I can give you so far... always check what force setting you are using. I keep switching between twill and vinyl and I forgot to change the force setting a couple of times. It makes an absolute mess of the vinyl when you have the force setting way too high...
If you are cutting twill, I'd start around 170-200 grams of force. I generally end up around 220.
If you are cutting vinyl, I'd start at 80 and go up/down from there. I generally end up around 100.
One more thing to watch....
When you load a roll of vinyl, make sure you reset the origin point. I forgot to a couple of times and wondered why it kept starting about 12 inches in from the bottom edge of the roll. Doh!
Thanks. Test cut went fine. I am awaiting an order of tape and some vinyl to arrive so I can can try small signs and shirt logos. I also want to use the cutter to trim down my chromablast prints so not to have any background residue on the t-shirts especialy dark ones.
I just got my stand for mine and put it together. The instructions show you put the cross members on backwords. The stand is a beast.I can't believe how sturdy it is. ...... JB
I should have got the stand for $150 when I got the printer but was not thinking I would need it. Boy, was I wrong. Now the chepest I can find a stand is for $249. Can't wait for the supplies to get here, then I can really play.
I think the stand is a great add and www.imprintables.com has them is stock. I wish I could have got one for $150, but I did get the cutter about $200 cheaper through Josh. I guess,Im still ahead of the game. I plan to get another blade holder for my 60 degree blade for ease of changeing them out. I think that will save time and ease my eye strain. ..... JB
