Default how is Graphtec Craft ROBO 8.5?

is there anyone using Graphtec Craft ROBO 8.5? how is it for a new comer? i need a cutter/plotter to trim out some-what complex images from opaque transfer paper. I have seen GX24, which looks sweet but out of my budget...
i am not gona be cutting vinyl sheets anyway... jus need a simple cutter for trimming out an image.

is there any other preferable cutter within $500 range which is user friendly?

MRDavid

Have you had time to use the laser cutter to cut transfer paper yet? I'm interested in purchasing one but I only if it can cut around printed designs on JPSS and IronALL Dark.

i also need it for the same purpose... for contour cutting around the opaque and light transfers but after alot of re-search, i have decided to wait on the plotter n buy a proper gx24 or graphtec craft robo PRO! coz they have the optic eye option n the contour cutting is very precise on them.

i went ASC yesturday n he was selling a cutter/plotter for 450 bucks... i asked him to perform contour cutting on a light transfer paper... i didnt like the results.

but i want to ask david... does ur plotter have some kind of optic eye option?

I actually own and use the Graphtec Craft ROBO 8.5. It is a decent machine but doesn't always cut precise. My suggestion would be to get a complex design and try the different cutting modes and see if any will cut more precise. I have been using the "Thick Paper" option hoping it would cut deeper so I can just peel and use. The problem with doing that is cut ok, but not the best.

With everything you get it is a matter of mastering it and finding solutions that will get the job done.
