Default US Cutter offering Graphtec?

I know I seen on here where US Cutter was offering Graphtec's now and I can't find it for anything.

Ken or Marcus could you confirm this? I am actually looking at possibly getting one if the "price is right". Don't get me wrong I love my refine and use it religously everyday. I am just needing to add another machine as I am growing faster then expected and was looking into them.

As a starter, I will say that I have never contacted US Cutter before and all my knowledge about the company their products comes from this forum since I have never seen one of their cutters in person (i.e. they are not at any shows). And I don't want anyone to think that I am calling US Cutter out at all.

Am I the only one that is looking at this kinda funny from a pure business perspective - it is what I do, I am Business Consultant. There are several posts on this forum that talk about how there are only a handful of people at US Cutter to handle tech support on their existing products which includes several different types of cutters. Now, they are going to start to offer another line of competitive products (i.e. Graphtec) that can offer a completely different line of tech support challenges. I completely understand a company wanting to be a low-cost leader for a product or product line. I am all for putting as much tech support online in either a forum or through videos as well. (I created MultiRIP with the same exact concept). But some people are naturally going to want to talk to someone. Thus will become an additional burden on tech support.

Now obviously things can change. Staffing can be increased very easily. But trying to be a low cost leader on a brand product sold through a distribution network (which means lower margins) that has been out in the market for years and combining it with another low-cost leader competitive product does not make that much business sense to me. The number one thing that I see customers want in this industry is customer support. Of course a reliable product that will last is important as well - but that is assumed by most businesses. If you look at some of the most successful companies that sell cutters (let's use a couple of the forum sponsors - Imprintable Warehouse and Coastal Business), they are not the lowest price distributors. Most of the Decorators that I work with tend to regret going with the lowest price if customer support is lacking. So in the end, it might not be the best thing just looking at the cheapest price of a specific product if you have a difficult time getting them to work. Creating the tech support while answering phones is tough. Based on the post, I think the existing US Cutter customers might want more technical information in the owner's manual and online.

Again, just my observations and I am not trying to call US Cutter out at all. Just more of me talking out loud from all my experience in the industry working with both Suppliers (Manufacturers and Distributors) and Buyers (Decorators). I do wish them the best of luck.

Mark

Articulate and objective, keep posts like this coming, they help to maintain balance to those tripping over each other drooling with speculative adulation for US Cutter. From my first hand experience I can emphatically state that US Cutter previously had a long way to go with regard to customer support service. With the addition of another line, I can only think the curve must be that much longer.

And from my experience with them they are the best customer service company I have seen in a long time. You know, kind of like almost everyone here says Imprintables is the best company in the world, and I myself wouldn't buy from them if they was the only company in this business.

To each his own, indeed.

We are growing at a rapid rate, and have experienced some growing pains for certain. We have since hired a new President and will be bringing on more technical support help within a few weeks to account for the growth. Also need a bookkeeper/ office manager. If there is anyone in the Seattle area looking for a career with a growing company, drop us a line.

Yes, we have just received our first shipment of GraphTecs, and they will be in the attractive price range. A Mod probably pulled my initial post about the news, and I should not have posted it to begin with. Self-Promotion is looked down upon on forums, and I should have known better. Excitement got the best of me, so I apologize.

Appreciate the good luck wishes DA, and good luck to you as well in all of your endeavors.
Appreciate the kind words flowerboxx, under the circumstances, we are doing what we can with the ever-growing workload.

Hope everyone has a great day!

K

I would like to say, I have visited the US CUTTER forum and all the people seemed very nice and helpful. I found a lot of people over there had similar feelings about Signwarehouse. I needed support and got it on the Forum. I thank all the US Cutter forim members for their help. I have heard great things about the product. I also applaud the fact that you went to the expense to have your cutter compared to the others Thanks for your committment. ... Kepp up the good work. ...... JB

I wanted to thank Josh for the original comparison with the copam and then thank you for adding in the pcut. People buy equipment for different reasons and at different price levels. I know this is why our country is so great we have the right to choose. I think it is sad when a person that has no stake in your company's
decisions either as a employee or customer to make comments concerning your business decisions. I say good luck with your new product line and thanks again to you and Josh for your committement to our industry. ..... Jb

I'll venture a guess that almost weekly someone new comes to this forum in search of information on low cost cutters. With that in mind I don't believe DAGuides comments were out of place.

The business model of US Cutter as evidensed in the past from posting on this forum may be construed by some to indicate they have oft played the catch up game when it comes to good technical support, supplemented by excuses and assurances of future improvement and now they are expanding their product line. I believe DAGuide's observations expressed some valid concerns that prospective buyers should consider in a purchase decision.

Deep down inside, I've never questioned whether US Cutter was 'Good People' or not. I know they're justifiedly loved by many and that's fine, just as I would hope you would accept others expressing another perspective.

Good point, and that is exactly what forums are for- to share ideas and input/ feedback.
