Yes, you can do everything you want with your Direct Advantage and GX-24. What you are going to do is tape your transfer paper down in the fron right corner of your printer's platen (really it is the top left corner of the shirt on the platen). Just a small piece of tape at the top and bottom will do to prevent the paper from moving while printing. Take your design and convert it to a jpeg or bitmap in Corel. Open the CutStudio software that comes with your cutter. Then, follow the instructions found in these online videos from Imprintables Warehouse:
- Part 1 - YouTube - Roland GX-24: Cut Studio Software Part 1 (Video 3/8)
- Part 2 - YouTube - Roland GX-24: Cut Studio Software Part 2 (Video 4/8)
They also have other videos on how to setup your cutter as well.
Hope this info helps you. Feel free to call me if you need additional assistance.
Thanks that's a good place for me to start, I have Smart Design w/the X3. I know that there is a way to be able to go from design to the printer to the cutter. When I do my designs then send them to the cut studio it changes and they no longer fit in the same space(i.e. 8.5x11) I know I'm missing some type of software.
DAS sells another software used to communicate with cutters and you do have the ability to cut directly from CorelDraw (but I don't know that process). But, you can also use CutStudio as well. The problem you are describing in CutStudio is something that happens to all of us. The easiest way to adjust the size is to click on the graphic --> right click and go down to Properties link. In the Properties tab, you can set your size to be the same exact size as it would be in CorelDraw.
It is my understanding that Smart Designer as itself is not going to be any different than CorelDraw when using a cutter. Maybe someone else can tell you how to use Corel to cut with. CutStudio is just so easy for me. Hope this helps.
