This may be old news to everyone, but I just learned a cool trick with the Solutions Clear material.
I had printed and contour cut some transfers
for light garments on our Versacamm. The image was very dark, lots of ink coverage. When I contour cut the design, the material bubbled and the edges curled up in the areas with the most ink saturation. To resolve this problem I pressed the pause button as soon as the printing was complete. I allowed the ink to dry for about 10 minutes, pushed pause again to continue with the contour cut. It worked like a charm...once the ink dried a bit, no more bubbling or edge curling.
I hope that is helpful for anyone new to the Solutions Clear material.
Debbie, you can set a delay from when it prints to when it cuts in the menu. I will try to look up exactly how to do it but it makes it so you don't have to babysit the machine and it will do the same thing for you automatically!
Since I see here there are a couple of you using this stuff I have another question.
This material appears very shiny on the roll, and I am assuming it is shiny one transfered. Am I wrong on that assumtion and if not is there a good way to bring the sheen down. The shiny look is not going to fly with my customers because it only does on the opaque material about half the time.
Yes, it's a bit shiny, but not like your standard vinyl. The best way I can describe it, is that it has a slightly crystallized look to it. However, you can barely notice it.
Maybe Debbie or Steve can give more insight on this.
I'll give you insight.....it is so slight in the crystalizing especially on white you gotta look real close to see it....it does show a lil more on colored shirts....but for the most part....it rocks !!!!!!!

The Solutions Clear is much more shiny on the roll then the finished product.
I agree that you have to take a pretty close look to see any of the "crystallized" look. I have only used it on white garments and I absolutely love it!
I would agree that the "shiny" part is not very noticable at all, especially on light garments. I looked at the setup for doing a delay and think that it might only be availible on the VP models. I know we set it at the show in AC to do that but it was on a VP model. You can set the print function to print only and select to return to orgin, then after a few minutes, run it as cut only. Either that or how Debbie described with the pause but I am usually not paying that much attention and would miss it before it went and cut! Most of the time I just use a bump out of 1/8" or less to avoid cutting into a printed area and do not have any problems with the curling.
Debbie, have you tried the bump out? I set it with a countour in corel to give the gap and there have not been any problems with curling when I do that. You really cannot see the extra material with clear unless you are really looking close.
Ronnie, I am jealous but might catch up to you with a 54" later this year. Everytime I turn around I am finding another job for my 30". I have 2 wraps coming up and wish that i had the 54"!!!
Steve...let me know if you need anything printed....I'd be glad to make life easier on you.....shipping wouldnt be too bad.....and heck cover my costs and its done !!!!
