First off let me tell you I am so new at this and need basic help. I bought a pcut and finally got it cutting. But I am wasting to much material because I do not know where its going to cut. I know its so basic of a question ,but everyone is new once and I am in need of your experience's. I am using corel draw and cutting with sign cut x2. What am I missing guys and gals.
I do not have a P-cut , but it should be the similar operation with most cutters , load your vinyl and set your origin point by moving the head with the arrow keys . I press the pause button move the head and then press the origin key . You have may have to look at your manual to find out how you do this on your cutter
I have the Pcut and what Bern suggested is correct. You press the Online button to toggle between on and off line operation. Use the arrow keys to run the cutting head all the way to the right hand side(as if you're facing the keypad), just shy of the red button (which is a limit switch, hitting this with the cutting head will stop the machine).
After you get the head positioned where you want it, just press the Reset button and it will zero itself out at that position, and go back into Online mode. You can also jog the head to any position you WANT it to start at as well, depending on your needs.
I attached a few quick photos to help illustrate it for you, hope they help!

bill,
that's one of the clearest instructs i have seen up to date. that will help a lot of new owners.
thanks
Bill I could of used that few days ago very nice of you to post as new owner of Pcut there is lot to learn with this and it is nice to see people helping
I'm glad to be able to help when I can. I don't know MUCH but I'll gladly share what little I do know.
u see that's exactly what i mean. even if u don't know much about the machine the learning curve makes u want to share what u have learned. i know that this may sound corny, but it's so true.
Bill, You have also cleared up a few of my questions that I posted in an earlier post and got no response to. My machine is a Master 24" that came with no instructions. I see some of the things are quite similar. Now if I can find out how to increase and decrease the cutting pressure on my machine I will once again be a happy camper--Pat
Pat - On my machine, to increase the downforce, you have to press the online button to take it offline, then there is a MODE button, and as you press that it gives you different functions. The downforce option on MINE is labeled as: PRESS and the higher the number means the more downforce you are using. It's changed by using the + and - keys.
Then you have to press MODE again until you're back at the X/Y menu to go back online, or you can press RESET and it will kick you back to ONLINE status.
I'm not near my machine right now but I will sure give that a try, but it sounds like yours has more buttons on it than mine but I'll poke around on it to see--Pat
