Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
I plan on purchasing a roland 24 in the near future. I'm one of those people who like to have some "book" smarts before I start something so I don't feel quite so blind. What I'm looking forward to doing is vinyl transfers instead of just heat press. I'm reading there are vinyls that feel like screen print when applied. Any input and suggestions? I'm also interested in vinyl stickers for vehicles and I saw material that looks like etched glass. I'd like to cut shapes for windows for decorating. So many vinyls and I'm clueless. There's probably even more that can be done with vinyl that I'm unaware of. Anyone with input, thank you. If you know of sites with instrutions or whatever for the newbie please feel free to send me there also. Again, Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm very excited!! Would love to just read for days on what can be done!!
Thanks
Heidi
I would suggest you contact some of the suppliers and ask to purchase some samples and judge them for yourself. I like Hotmark 70 for my heat press goods, but others like the stuff from Imprintables or Joto. i wish you the best of kuck with your new machine. ...... JB
Contact Specialty Materials (specialtymaterials.com) and ask for samples. They are suppliers of Thermoflex vinyl brand for heat pressing on garments. I love, love, love using them.
For vinyl signs, I use 3m and Oracal. Contact Both of them and ask for vinyl swatches. You will see various vinyl available (metallic, different shades of color, etched, flourescent).

Where do you find 3M's contact info for their vinyl swatches?
