Default cutting graphics

Guys, need help with US Cutter.

Why can't I get it to cut simple graphics I've gotten from clipart that say vinyl ready artwork. It was an eps file. It's supposed to understand how to cut that. I'm not sure how to import the clipart in, I opened it in photoshop and then "HOTSHOT" it to the cutter design page. Maybe that's my mistake.

Someone please advise. I've had the equipment for 6 months and have only been doing letters. That's way to limited!!

Thanx

I am not super familiar with photoshop but I think if you open vector art within that program it becomes a raster image. You should be cutting from ILL> or Corel me thinks.

Hi Midnight,

I replied to your PM, but here's the jist of it:

Open Signblazer. From there, import or open your graphic file (do NOT double-click on yoru graphic file because it will open in Photoshop, which you don't want).

Once in Signblazer you should be able to seperate your colors, etc, and it should still be vector.

I don't have Signblazer, tho, so I can't say for sure what formats it will open or import. You'll need to check with your software.

If it won't open or import EPS files, download Inkscape, open your EPS in Inscape, and save it (or export it) to a file fomat that Signblazer can use.

Good luck! Let us know if that worked or not.

I think having general probs with Siignblazer. Can't get anything to come up as optios to import. Won't let me view any files except "PICTURES".

Bill had great directions but got as far as selecting "Vectorize" and then it gives set up options. After researching the HELP I discovered that I should be given several set up options but only 1 is offered "#2 logos/art-general" so I went with that and it did turn blue but cutter said still a bitmap so won;t cut.

US Cutter hasn't returned my call since Fri. I think that is poor support, How about you?

Hey, a little progress. After bill's directions where he says to click "vectorize" Then the graphis turns blue........
THEN right click and select delete. The bitmap was remaining on top of the vectorized image this allowed me to cut. Haven't checked it out yet...

Still can't import unless open in photoshop and "HOTSHOT " in

I wonder what's going on...

The Signblazer website says that this software will import EPS files. I wonder why you're not able to?

They have forums that you might be able to ask for help on. SignBlazer Forum - Index

I wish I could help you more, but I just don't know this software.

That's OK Chani. I appreciate all even just moral support. I was able to finally cut the one I was trying to. Still problem importing and with including letters in same design. Have started a thread at US Cutter we'll see....

Do you think I need to cut the letters separately and do a two part design or two part press?

Have you seen about down saving the eps file? If it is a recent version eps, that might be the case.

Have you tried reinstalling the software as well?

I found this on their forum:
Quote:
Hello All,
If anyone has an EPS file which does not import into SignBlazer they can email it to
[email address]
and it will be returned as a SBD file.
Also they will be an attached explanation if there anything wrong with the file.
Jerry from SignBlazer.

Over the years vector formats have changed (mainly adding capabilities). So if I have Illustrator 12 and you have 10, you usually can't open the file. So I would open it and save it to a lower number version. Sooooo, with that info, SignBlazer might only recognize a version 10 eps file, but you were supplied a version 12. That's what I have run in with CutStudio.

Inkscape is a free vector program, like Illustrator or Corel. It's not as fully-featured, but what the heck...it's FREE!

It may allow you to open your EPS files and save them to a format you can import into Signblazer. It comes with a lot of extensions (eps, svg, etc...).

Inkscape doesn't deal with eps files, only svg (Scalable Vector Graphics). I think there is a work around to import them, not sure. I sent you a PM, if you want to try and test the versions, you can email me one of the eps files, and I can save it down for you..
