I can tell you how to do it in Corel X3 if that will help. Maybe its similar. Should only take a few clicks.

I am by no means a pro. I made this video, it is unedited and unscripted so dont laugh to hard. I think that this may answer some of your questions. If not, let me know and I will make a video when I get home tonight. It is much easier seeing it done. I am sure there are similar effects and tools in Illy.

The one thing to note, in Corel. If you add a contour and break apart the contour it will make two diff objects for your cutter. One will be placed onto the other. If you do not want them to overlap, use the simplify button like it is in the video.

I changed server from windows based to linux. For some reason it is "case sensitive".
