Default cut stencil sheets

Howdy,
I have the robo craft cc200. If I can ever get the damn thing to read the registration marks I like to make stencils to use with glass etching cream.

Whats a good stenicil film or whatever to use that will stick to the glass ?
If reusable great if not thats okay too.

Thanks
Mark

any kind of vinyl will do the job.
i use oracal 651 and 641, Avery, whatever i have at that moment.
id doesn't really matter, you will remove it after 15-20 minutes.

if you want something re-usable, this is it:

Glass Etching Instructions Using Dura-Film Stencils.

i never tried it, because:

1. they refused to accept international payment with visa card, and the wire transfer is to expensive related to the overall value of the equipment i wanted;

2. i don't think the screenpring stencil they use cand give you better edge definition than the vinyl.

Hi Mark,

First question, why do you need registration marks for stencils, or did I misunderstand you?

Second, how are you applying registration marks? What program are you using?

I may regret asking this, but have you read the user manual PDF's for Cutting Master 2 or ROBO Master Pro? They give you hints on positioning your blade for reading registration marks. I know our CE5000-60 is a little finicky as to where you line everything up and can take a couple of tries sometimes.

I'm not sure how the CC200-20 reads marks, honestly. If you were to send me the user manuals I could sure compare it to our CE5000 user manual. I might see something there.

Last, have you tried calling your supplier (was it Specialty?) OR Graphtec? If you need Graphtec's phone number I'll be happy to post it for you.

*** I wrote it that way thinking I'd ues Corel but now that you mention it I can do it in the robo carft software. Brain fart there.

*** I have been doing the samples that came in the robo books. Using a Epson c88+. Also a Oki C5500. I seem to have better luck with the laser than the inkjet but its the inkjets that I want to contour cut.
Using Corel X3 and the robo master software. In doing a search I see that alot of people have the problem with it reading their registration marks. I have tried all kinds of suggestions. Moving them over to at least .75 or more. Tried a Inch. Didn't work.
Tried going over the marks with a sharpie. Didn't work. Same with a few other suggestions I have found.
Thinking of trying voodoo next.
I did print out the registration test form but the manual doesn't say what to do with it once you print it out. arghh.

*** Don't regret the question. I know alot of times people post w/o reading the docs. Normally I do and in this case yep. Tried manually moving to the green area and still no go. Tried with lid open for more lite. Tried with closed. No difference.

*** Well graphtec sends you to the robocraftstore.com to get support but ain't any support numbers or emails there. Pretty lame for support I think. So I emailed them directly. That was 4 days ago and haven't heard a peep.
Also emailed Specialty Graphics but not a peep from them either. I work my real job so don't get home early enough to call. Disappointed in both for support so far.

Its about to be packed up and shipped back.
I have a us cutter mh-721 and got this to do the stencils for the etchings and contour cutting but so far haven't been enjoying it one bit.

Thanks very much.
Mark

I'm so sorry. I've always recommended Specialty because they've always been responsive to me.

If you'd like to call Graphtec, their number is: 800-854-8385

I would hope they'd support their CR, but if they say they don't, don't let them off the line without giving you a phone number of the CR tech support.

I really wish I had one of these machines to test so I could either confirm that it's junk or be able to give people suggestions. But by the sounds of it the process is a little different from the larger CR Pro and CE5000-60.

I'll be trying to help someone else to get theirs to cut, period (he's having connection issues), but I honestly don't know how much I'll be able to help because of the differences in these machines.

If only I could get Specialty to ship one of these to me to test, but I'm pretty sure that won't happen, and I just don't have the money to spend on a plotter that I'd never use on a regular basis, even if it is only $300.

I can certainly understand yours (and others') frustration. Things should just work, and it's horrible when they don't, especially when you have such high hopes for them.

I apologize for telling you that this plotter might work for you. I ordinarily don't suggest this machine, but the CR Pro instead. I can see that if it's this much trouble just to get a simple contour cut it's just not worth it. I wouldn't blame you at all if you returned this plotter after the trouble you've had!

If you'd like me to try to contact Specialty for tips, I can certainly try.
