The only reason I'd ever suggest a
sprocket fed plotter is if you're making a lot of VERY long banners or signs
and you need absolute tracking. Friction fed is fine for anything around 10
feet or shorter as long as you line your vinyl up straight in your plotter.
Friction fed plotters have little lines on the front of them so you can line
up your vinyl straight.
I also suggest a friction fed plotter because you can use scrap pieces in
them. On a sprocket fed plotter, you can only use full-width rolls and
sheets that have the holes for the sprockets, but on a friction fed plotter
you can put in a 4 inch wide piece of vinyl if you wanted to.
Also, if you ever plan on making t-shirt transfers, you cannot contour cut
on a sprocket fed plotter.
If you do get this plotter you'll be VERY happy with it.
Just keep in mind that there might be a setting on the plotter itself that
you will need to change to get it to talk to your computer, but if you run
into that problem I have the solution to it, so I'll be able to help with
that.
