Default vinyl cutter/ plotter

Hi everyone I am new here. I currently work at a sign shop and I am looking to start my own. I am trying to figure out what cutter/plotter to buy. I know the big brands are Graphtec & Roland. I was wondering if it is worth a shot at trying some of these machines on ebay or other websites. I can afford a Roland or Graphtec up to the $2,500 range. Should I just buy the quality one, or should I spend $700 on a different brand. I am very excited to start my own shop but I am affraid to dump $2,500 on a cutter when there are cheaper ones out there. Any advice is welcome..

Will you need an optic eye or a good registration system? if not..you could consider an ebay cutter IF you feel like gambling!. read the posts on this subject, bearing in mind we usually just hear the bad stuff..not the good, but most important is the after purchase support. I have a roland and I know that I certainly appreciate the roland forum and support I have received. I think Planb on the forum has some cutters that are good and he is a quality contact. I know there are some cutters with registration that is less than the roland but still I went for the roland

I think either the Roland or Graphtec you can't go wrong with and I have heard conflicting reports on the US Cutter laser registration cutter, any way you shake the stick all 3 cutters will contour cut transfers,
