I see someone is now making a better blade holder for the CraftROBO and similar cutters that is fully adjustable and uses a straight shanked blade shaft without the intergel bearing. I've attempted to get some answers from sellers of this holder with regard to what type of blade will actually fit into it. Of coure they also desire to sell their blade(s) for you to use with this holder, so all my answers have been kinda vague. Are there other blades out there that will fit this holder?
I'd love to hear someone who knows more about this chime in for us Craft Robo owners!
I have since purchased one. This is not the best photo, but it will give a general idea. The top is made of alloy with the body either phenolic plastic or anodized alloy. The blades measure 19.5mm X 1.5 mm with a rounded shoulder at the top. I believe it money well spent...but at the same time I can't also help but think this is someone else's holder repackaged and marked up, so if anyone has additional insight to share....
I have been talking with a blade manufacturer for several months now about replacement blades for the Craft Robo.
I've sent him an old blade, etc. He called me 3 or 4 weeks ago, and says he's getting close. I'm hoping that one day soon, I'll have a little package in the mail...a blade to try out for him.
We have also been trying to figure out what blade that Accu-Bladeholder uses. At some point, I'll just order one of their replacement blades and send it to my contact so that he can compare it to some standard blades.
The only thing I dislike about the Craft Robo is the cost of blades, and the fact that you can only order them on-line from some mysterious wizard behind a curtain.
As soon as I have info about the blades we're working on, I will let you all know.
Just got my Craft Robo and I've read about the OEM blades and was hoping there'd be a solution for some decent reasonably priced replacements. Look forward to hearing about your success!
Got a call from the manufacturer today...he's sending the prototype for me to test...I should have it Saturday, so I'll be testing it out this weekend.
