Default New to cutters.

Hey guys,
This is my first time buying a vinyl printer, i really dont knwo to much about them and how to work the software but i am a quick learner so im not to worried about that. The only thing i am really worried about is what kind of vinyl cutter i should get. i am looking for something is a good price, under $500, reliable and that is able to use different software for cutting. I am looking at a 28inch vinyl cutter plotter with signGo lite from masterwarehouse for $427. What do you guys think about this vinyl cutter package, and is there vinyl cutter that you recommend. Let me know. I appreciate your input thank you very much

Hi Chris,, Welcome to the forum!! In the price range you are looking at you will only get a cutter and not a print cut plotter,, that said the best choice in that price range would be a us cutter and I would look at the laser one from us cutter which uses the laser to align registration marks to contour cut transfers, the software comes with the cutter and also you might want corel draw to design in, Us cutters have a good reputation and a strong forum for support.

I'll second that.

And again, as Roger said, a plotter in that range WILL NOT print. Just cut.

For a printer/cutter, you're looking at more like $10,000 and up.

Thank you for you quick response guys, all i really want is a cutter sorry if i said printer lol, just to cut different style of letters and maybe some graphics. I am going to use it for my dads restaraunt to make some signs for the store. Something very simple. Now do you think the 28in vinyl cutter and signGo is good for the job that i want to do?

I honestly don't know anything about that plotter, unfortunately.

The only low-cost plotter that I WOULD trust, personally, is the USCutter Copam 2500, and that's only because I've heard so many good reviews of that plotter here on these forums.

Maybe someone else knows that plotter and will respond back.

Chris, I own a copam and its a great cutter, its out of your prce range a little it has a optical eye to measure material only and in my book its a must, now I know that David ,, aka flowerboxx here on the forum has a refine by us cutter and he reccomends it highly,, you can bid on all of these cutters on ebay as US cutter has a strong presents there,, The other thing is plotter/cutters are a very precise machine and without good dealer support and good forum support I would be very cautious on which one I would buy.

Are you aware masterwarehouse (dcsign) is selling that cutter on ebay for $399 with SignGo Pro? I have no experience with that software, it could be the next best thing to sliced bread as far as I know. I suspect if it were, you would have heard people hooping and hollering about it by now. If you are new to cutters and plotter software, the more people using the same brand, the more support you'll find if needed. If you're also considering other brands, I wrote a short review of my new US CUTTER LaserPoint Cutter Here. that you may find helpful with making this decision.
