Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
There are a couple of cutter/plotters that I am looking at getting. Can any provide me some info on these? I am looking for good and bad feedback. I just want to make sure that I make the right investment.
One is the: Roland GX-24 Vinyl Cutter at imprintables.
And the other is: Vinyl Express We-60+24 at sign warehouse.
I was wonder how well the Epson C88+ works? Is this a great starter only? How well does this work after tons of prints? What if I am doing a large order?
I am just about to open up shop and wanted to know if these were the best way to go? I like the best value!
There is one more cutter and that is the Graphtec CE5000-60, comes with a stand has optical eye and is a standard in the industry, one of the reasons why you don't see it a lot here is that they have geared most of their marketing to the sign industry,,, as for the c88 it is a discontinued printer although you may be able to get a refurbished machine from the epson site, it was replaced by the 120 however I don't know a lot about this new printer but I am shure someone here knows the facts.
The c120 is faster then the c88 and the c88+. It also has a larger black ink cartridge so the black last longer. Vinyl cutter are an item that you should consider with a lot of research. Some have the same features as roger (Plan B) has stated. Sometime it is like buying a car meaning the all do the samething and have the same result but the difference ie the price. Look at the unit Roger spoke of. i show several unit on my educational web that might help.

I'd go with the Roland plotter - hands down! They are built like little tanks. I've heard of too many service problems with the v-express packages. As for Epson, I've had nothing but good experiences with them. The C88 maybe a little small for the long haul, but it'll get you up and running.

I think the roland will make you happier. the q series is distributed by sign warehouse and I 've not been happy with their service department. This is just my experience, but i would call Josh @imprintables and get a roland. .....JB
We have that plotter, and I can't even begin to tell you how happy we are with it!
That said, you can't go wrong with the Roland, either, but it's more expensive...a cost that I don't think is necessary. The Graphtec will do anything that the Roland will do.
Another thing I would suggest is going with an Epson 1400 or 1800, (they print up to 11X17) because later on you will realize you want to print larger transfers.
Yes, there are bulk ink systems available for them.
I was thinking of getting the 1400, because it's a little cheaper to begin with, especially if you get a refurb from Epson. But the thing is, if you go that route, you NEED a CIS for it because out of the box it uses dye inks, which are not good for transfers.
The 1800 uses pigment inks (good) right out of the box.
