Default Reflective Vinyl cracking / splitting on t-shirt...

Has anybody had a problem with reflective vinyl splitting on the edges when used on a t-shirt?

We did two t-shirts using reflective vinyl for the first time. The first one was with silver material we got from Imprintables. The design looked great but after one wash it started to split in some areas. We tried another shirt using Thermoflex material and got the same result.

The design was a multi-layered design but no splitting occured where the reflective vinyl was layered on top of another layer of vinyl..guessing it gave it additional strength.

Is the stretch of the t-shirt matieral too much for the stiffer reflective vinyl to handle??

As I said, the design looked great but we need to resolve this issue before moving forward. We are looking at outlining the designs with another layer of vinyl to provide additional strength to the edges of the reflective vinyl but this isn't always the best solution.

i've never used the reflective material on tees - you might be right about the 'stretch factor'. i have tho used quite a bit of it on heavier fabric (stuff for the fire dept - more like a heavy twill....) and never had an issue with the the material from joto. but, that said, it wasn't a 'design' per se, it was just large block lettering with a nice wide stroke and some striping.
