Discuss the various aspects of heat pressed vinyl transfers. Popular and new types of vinyl media, suppliers, vinyl cutters /plotters, press times, quality, how to instructions and more can be found in this heat press sub forum.
This is probably a Coreldraw question so here goes. I have a design that I cut from Coreldraw via cutting master. The graphic has a large percentage of red which is comprised of several objects filled with red. The cutter cuts a line for all of this objects which I don't need. How do I stop this from happening?
THanks for all help past and present!

In Corel Draw, select all of your red objects and then from the menu select Arrange->Shaping->Weld. Make sure all of your red objects are on the same (Draw) layer and have exactly the same color before welding.
I'm having a little bit of a hard time figuring out what you're wanting.
First, are you cutting vinyl or inkjet transfers? If you're cutting vinyl, you would prolly WANT it to cut around all of the red parts, wouldn't you? If you're cutting inkjet (or laser) transfers, then what you would do is take your design and create a boundary (Effects -> Create Boundary). This will create an outline of your entire design. The only problem is that it sometimes misses parts that you need to copy and weld into your boundary, and it down't include the thickness of your shapes' outlines (Stroke in Illy), so you would first need to convert your outlines to objects (Arrange -> Convert Outline to Object).
If neither of these are what you're looking for, would you mind explaining a little more clearly what it is you need to accomplish?
Would like to add on to this discussion. Am new using corel as a cutter. Have always used dr. stitka that came with my roland but couldnt figure out how to arch text in it so here i am with corel. i converted my text to bitmaps, deleted original and then deleted fill and used hairline outline. worked pretty good except it cuts some areas twice. tried the arrange, weld suggestion above and that seemed to do away with some of it but it also made like the middle of my a's and b's disappear. should i invest in a plug in to make this easier or am i missing a step in corel? Thanks for the help
ucandog, why would you convert text to bmp? Just convert to curves and turn off any fill.
If you look at your image in wireframe and zoom in you will see all the lines that will be cut. If you need to eliminate lines than you will have to do some more work.
You may need to brake object apart or do a weld or trim depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
Pgritton I am not sure what you are having issues with? Are you trying to cut just one color in a multicolor design?
Corel is new to me and I followed steps i found on this forum actually. Thanks for the tip tho, it worked out just fine the way u indicated. I think it is confusing since there is alot of info out there for ex; i also read about the cut plug in from roland for corel x3..not sure if there are bells and whistles with that that let u do other things? anyway thanks for the help, this worked out great.
I have a cut plug in for Corel and it has no bells and whistles. It just lets you cut what you have created. I do all my design work in Corel and didn't need to spend extra $$ for auto weed lines ans stuff like that.
one more question. how do u convert a peice of clipart in corel to cut? it doesn't give me the option of outlining it even after i convert to a bitmap. sorry, but am not a graphic artist, if u can help, that would be appreciated!
Anything you send to your cutter must be converted to a vector image. You can do it with many programs including some free ones like inkskape. After you have your image vectorized than I would go and look at it in wire frame mode and all the lines you see will be cut so you may have to do some clean up from there.
I would just make a few simple bmp graphics like a box and circle than convert and run the process. If you try with to complex an image it may confuse and discourage you.
Start simple and get the basics. It will give you much more confidence.
I started with corel about a year ago myself but have lots of practice creating vector images for sandcarving. I am still learning the t-shirt workings so I am doing lots of reading myself.
Feel free to ask anymore questions and I will try to help if I can.
okay I don't have red lines... here's my problem. We have an old version of Corel and can't find the disk so we can't open the files into CutStudio like we are suppose to. But what we have been doing is taking the design, turning it into wire form, then copying and pasting it into CutStudio, which worked. Yay! Well, then I made an oval around my design with the circle tool thingy. Grouped it all together and did the same thing, copy and pasted it. But when I get it into Cut Studio, there are lines in my oval. And when I tried to cut it, they cut those lines. So instead of the oval being ONE CONTIUOUS line, it now is cut up into 4 sections. Teresa told me to CONVERT TO POLYLINE but it doesn't change anything.
Can someone please help me. I need to get this done to submit for a job.

Unsure about the plugin/cutstudio as I do not have experience with those two directly, but this kind of sounds similar to what may happen when you exceed the cuttable length of the material. I usually give about 1/4" leeway for the material (IE: If your plotter says you have 20", I usually only cut up to 19.75"). Faliing to do so will usually result in the application trying to find the best way to tile the design to fit.

no, I don't think that is the case this time. The design is only 4.5" wide and the plotter can do about 22". Thanks for trying to help though. I do appreciate it!
