i have the roland gx-24 and it says cutter/plotter what the heck is plotter i read something like drawing with a pen or something like that. shouldent mine have come with the attachment to use this feature which i probably never use but anyways has anyone ever used this feature before. i looked for videos just to see what it accualy was but found nothing. sorry i now this is not t-shirt related but i was curious.
i think its used as the same thing as the cutter just with a pen and paper. my guess you can use it on say blueprints or something. and all you have to do is buy a pen that fits the carrier.

yes, you should be able to buy a pen insert that fits in your blade holder. it has several uses in traditional sign shops, probably not so much for tshirt applications.

If I am not mistaken, these machines were originally designed for the plotter purpose. I remember being a kid and seeing them advertised way back in the days of ancient computing. Somewhere down the line, someone put an xacto in one and now you have a cutter. Some people still use the pen feature. Do a search and you will find people who even do art with it.

2Strong,
The original CAMM-1 plotter was designed off a flatbed platform for doing architectural and drafting work. It's how the XY drawing market started. Roland and other manufacturers improved the quality over the years and eventually started using a knife instead of a pen. If you'd like to draw your designs on paper, get a plotter pen from this website: Home Page and change your offset in the control panel to 0.00
Roland used to put a pen in the box until about 6-7 years ago, when they switched over to only blades. The website above is where we tell people to go who are interested in pen plotting.
