Does Anyone Use Fellers For Sign Vinyl, Confused So Much Stuff
I RECENTLY FOUND THA WWW.FELLERS.COM IS ABOUT 10 MIN FROM MY HOUSE SO I WANT TO GETS SOME APP TAPE AND A COUPLE ROLLS OF SIGN VINYL BUT LOOKING AT THEIR CATALOG THEY HAVE SO TONS OF STUFF SO I WAS WOUNDERING WHAT SIGN VINYL AND APP TAPE YOU BUY FROM THEM WHAT. IM NOT EVEN SURE WHAT IS WHAT. I WILL PROBABLY CALL THEM TOMORROW BUT WANTED TO GET SOME INFO FROM YOU BEFORE THANKS.
Re: Does Anyone Use Fellers For Sign Vinyl, Confused So Much Stuff
Depends on what you are using the vinyl for. Give more info on your application and I am sure you will get some help. As far as application tape goes also depends on what you are doing.
If you are making decals for resale I would recomend a high tack clear tape such as: AT-42 clear R-Tape .For general shop use I use #4775 R-Tape. This is a paper tape and works great wet or dry. Stay away from AT-60 clear. IMO is crap. Not enough tack and seems to carry a static charge that seems to suck the graphic to the tape and causes a real mess.
For basic decal vinyl I like Oracal 651, for indoor signs I like Oracal 641, and for vehicle graphics and long term outdoor signs I use Oracal 751.
I hope this helps you out. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sean

Thanks For The Input Imjust Getting Started And I Dont Want To Get Crappy Stuff. First Time Doing Decals. I Plan On Making Car Decals And Hopefully Outdoor And Indoor Signs. I Got The Pressure Sensitive Vinyl From Stahls But Not Sure If Its Good Or Not It Feels Soft And Not That Sticky. Stuck One On My Car Window And I Was Able To Pull It Off, A Little Resistance But Dont Know How This Is Supposed To Work Maybe It Gets Tacked On More With Time. I Also Got The App Tape That Looks Like A Roll Of Masking Tape. Well I Want To Order Some Tomorrow So Maybe Ill Use What Your Using. Thanks Again. With All That Stuff In The Catalog I Was Going Crazy Trying To Figure What Was What.
Re: Does Anyone Use Fellers For Sign Vinyl, Confused So Much Stuff
Yea, I've used vinyl from Fellers. Shinerite is the name. it's decent, but I prefer Oracal 651 for most jobs & cast vinyl for vehicle applications. As far as transfer tape, I prefer the AT-60 clear, the paper tape is garbage IMO. If your not installing right away I have had the problem of the paper tape curling & it bites BIG TIME. Stay away from all that ebay vinyl, it's usually someone offloading their outdated stuff, It you want to use it to practice on , it would be cool, but I wouldn't sell it to anyone in decal form. just my .02.

What Is The Diferrence Between Cast And Intermidiate. Probably Quality But Is One Coated With Something And One Isnt. So I Should Use Cast If Im Selling Car Decals

You are one of the lucky ones. I wish I had them that close. Your best bet is go in and talk to them . Don't be afread to tell them your new in the business and need some advice. They have the opportunity to convert you to a great customer so they will be helpful. I also use wellington House a stahls company.

I Just Placed An Order Right Now And Will Be Able To Pick It Up In A Couple Hours. Thats Great. Just Out Of Curiousity What Colors Do You Stock. I Usually Only See Whit On Car Decals So Thats A Gimmie But Others. Maybe For Signs Im Thinking Blue, black, red. Just Guessing Though Would Love To See What You Guys Have In Stock
Re: Does Anyone Use Fellers For Sign Vinyl, Confused So Much Stuff
I stock about 10 yards of each color Oracal has. It is good to have the diff. shades of a color if you are doing a lot of signs and vehicle graphics. For example black for lettering and grey for a shadow. If you will be starting out with decals and small signs like banners just stock a few colors like White, black, blue, red, green. and when you get jobs that call for a color you dont have just order it. Before long you will have some of each color too. Good luck,
Sean

remember when applying vinyl the glue is micro incapsulated (in tiny bubbles) so the harder you press the more bubbles get busted making the decal stick better. Make sure the area is clean and don't use products with ammonia like Windex as it will eat the glue.
