Default Can't get my Roland GX24 to cut....

Okay, has anyone else had a problem with Windows Vista and there GX24? I know that I cannot use the "get from machine" function and have to do this manually. So once I got that figured out, now it sends it to the printer, but it just sits there and doesn't do anything. Any suggestions anyone?

I dont have my manual with me...but check yours...I seem to recall that the GX24 came with a windows XP driver and not a vista driver. That may be the issure.. Vista OS is not particularly friendly with legacy hardware. I would check with roland to see if there is a vista driver

Then I would certainly be on the phone to Roland tech support. They are very helpful.

Did you place the driver in the proper place?

I think the driver should load automatically...but then I have been wrong so many times my wife says I am always wrong.

Seriously if you have downloaded the vista driver call tech support.. and one thing to mention...does computer even recognize the cutter??? if not there could be a more serious problem. The USB port on the printer is very sensitive and if the cutter was place so that someone ...something...like a dog or ... could have tripped on it, it could damage the port and will not work. On low tech way to check is with the usb cable plugged in, gently wiggle the cable...if the usb port moves...that could be an issue...just a thought?

let us know the final resolutio

I have a Roland Stika unit that I use with Vista. If you go to their site, they'll tell you they don't support it, and as far as I know, they don't have a Vista driver. But I think I was able to use the latest XP and got it to work. Try this page for the latest drivers. cutting This is where I got mine, and it wouldn't work until then.

Yep, read that, but I was just throwing that out there, as I faintly remember having some problems trying to find the right driver from the right site. Just seeing if they had gotten form that place.

It wont work with vista 64, in case you are using that : ( roland just needs to sign their driver for a couple hundred dollars.. wish they would.

I had to put it on my laptop with 32bit but it works just fine!

Does your computer recognize the cutter? When you turn on the cutter you should hear the classic "you just plugged something in" sound in windows.

If not: open the start menu, type "printers" and see if your computer even has it installed.

You can always delete the printer from there and try reinstalling it.

I think thats a good place to start..
